Resource Ontario levels the playing field for all Ontarians by providing equity of access to information and learning resources. It provides greater support for rural, urban, francophone and native populations by delivering free, licensed access to an extensive collection of materials and information.

The following are links to each database and a brief description of each. Please click on the image to access the database. Some of the databases require that you enter all or part of your 14 digit library barcode number on your library card if you are accessing them from home.

 

 

Gale Cengage Learning

The Gale Databases include hundreds of full text magazines, journals, encyclopedias and other reference materials of interest to elementary and secondary schools, public libraries, and academic institutions.

To access these databases from home you will need to enter you library barcode number.

This database includes automotive repair information on most manufacturers of domestic and imported vehicles and includes:

Canadian Points of View Reference Centre (Click on EBSCO Host to access)

This full-text database is designed to provide students with a series of essays that present multiple sides of a current issue. The database provides information on 100 key topics of interest to Canadian researchers, with an overview (objective background/description), point (argument), counterpoint (opposing argument), and Critical Thinking Guide. Topics include the environment, human rights, race, substance abuse and many more.

The database contains a balance of materials from all viewpoints, including 400 main essays, leading political magazines, newspapers, radio & TV news transcripts, primary source documents, and reference books.

 

 
 
Teen Health and Wellness

Teen Health & Wellness: Real Life, Real Answers, the award-winning, critically acclaimed database from Rosen Publishing provides middle and high school students with curricular support and self-help on topics including diseases & conditions; drugs & alcohol; nutrition & fitness; mental and emotional health; sexuality & sexual health; bullying and internet safety; green living; family life, and more.  Content in this database is aligned to Ontario curriculum standards in health and physical education; science; and language arts. The content in Eureka.cc for public and academic libraries corresponds directly to the French-language titles identified by the French Advisory Committee as being of primary importance to their community. The resources are updated daily and contain 20 years of archives. The collection includes national and international newspapers, news wires, audio capsules and radio/television transcripts. The French-language titles are bundled with 20 English-language daily newspapers from across Ontario, including: Barrie Examiner, Belleville Intelligencer, Brantford Expositor, Chatham Daily News, Cobourg Daily Star, Cornwarll Standard-Freeholder, Kingston Whig-Standard, Lindsay Daily Post, Niagara Falls Review, North Bay Nugget, Orillia Packet & Times, Owen Sound Sun Times, Pembroke Daily Observer, Peterborough Examiner, Port Hope Evening Guide, Sarnia Observer, Sault Star, St. Catharines Standard, Sudbury Star, Timmins Daily Press and Welland Tribune.

This is a fully bilingual database which has been designed to help students and others plan their future. Users are able to access hundreds of detailed occupation profiles - everything from Actuary to Zookeeper. Profiles include: job descriptions, working conditions, education and training, earnings, and links to related occupations and other resources. It provides a national database of post-secondary schools which includes detailed information on colleges, universities and other training opportunities.
