The Community Access Program
(CAP) is a Government of Canada
Initiative, administered by Industry
Canada, which aims to provide
Canadians with affordable public
access to the Internet and the skills
they need to use it effectively.
The Haileybury Branch of the
Temiskaming Shores Public Library
is a CAP location.

Not only does CAP fund the
library computers, keeping them
up to date, but they have now
funded a Youth Intern who will
be conducting a wide range of
computer-oriented programs
and services to the community
from the months of
September to March.
Currently, the Youth Intern is
holding one-on-one Seniors’
Computer Classes.
This program takes beginner
computer users through 4 levels
of computer literacy starting with
the parts of the computer, using the
mouse and typing, all the way
through to conducting searches
online and using email.

Read your way through winter, any age, English or French! Just come into your library branch and sign up. If you wish, you may submit book reviews to the staff for our website’s blog.

The New Liskeard Branch of the Library
will be closed on Monday, February 6

Valentine Acrostic Poetry Contest: Roses are red, violets are blue, have we got a poetry prize just for you! From January 30-February 10 drop into the library to pick up the acrostic poetry template of your choice. Prizes for winning poetry will be announced on February 14 (your poem should be better than ours). All ages are encouraged to participate! Call 705-647-4215 for more information.

Children’s Valentines Craft Program: Join us in making a couple of cute Valentine’s Day crafts to give as gifts or keep to enjoy yourself. For caregivers and children aged 5 to 10 years. Tuesday Night Book Club: Monthly meeting of book discussion group—Next meeting is Tuesday, February 21 at 6:30 p.m. December’s read was Sarah’s Key by Tatiana deRosnay which was rated an average 3.2 by the group. Book to be discussed at February’s meeting is The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards. Please note that you do not have to be a “regular” book club member to come and join discussion of any of our picks. Please call 705-647-4215 for more information.
