The Community Access Program
(CAP) is a Government of Canada
Initiative, administered by Industry
Canada, which aims to provide
Canadians with affordable public
access to the Internet and the skills
they need to use it effectively.
The Haileybury Branch of the
Temiskaming Shores Public Library
is a CAP location.

Not only does CAP fund the
library computers, keeping them
up to date, but they have now
funded a Youth Intern who will
be conducting a wide range of
computer-oriented programs
and services to the community
from the months of
September to March.
Currently, the Youth Intern is
holding one-on-one Seniors’
Computer Classes.
This program takes beginner
computer users through 4 levels
of computer literacy starting with
the parts of the computer, using the
mouse and typing, all the way
through to conducting searches
online and using email.

Tuesday Night Book Club: Next meeting is Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. October’s read was Ragged Company by Richard Wagamese which was rated an average 4.6 by the group. Book to be discussed at January’s meeting is Sarah’s Key by Tatiana de Rosnay. Local Author Reading  “Rowin Nolan and the Brave Little Beaver” by Tina Nichol; illustrated by Linda Sailer. Great family fun on Saturday, January 21 at 11:00 a.m. Come on out and encourage one of the area’s newest, published authors…this story is sure to be a big hit with the youngsters! Books and Bites Presents William Bart: Tuesday, January 24, at 12:00 noon. William J. Bart is a local children’s author and he will be speaking at the Haileybury Branch Library’s Books and Bites program on Tuesday January 24, 2012 between Noon and 1:00 PM.  Admission is free. His book, HALF OF ME, is an odyssey of understanding.  An eight year old boy develops a unique and perceptive understanding of what it is like to be physically challenged.  In the process he learns to look at his friends with a clearer vision.  The theme teaches older children and young adults humility, respect for others, tolerance, understanding and compassion.
